What Liz did not know is that I needed your ministry. I do not have a problem with my mother in law but I do have a very serious decision to make and I was changed by your words ” you will have pain and sorrow in your in your life caused by other people”. My whole emotional state has changed in the last five minutes just from reading your post. I went from being angry crazy to laughing with you. 🙂
I enjoyed it all. You are a wonderful writer! I especially loved when you said your son was bull riding and you were riding a few bulls yourself. Pure poetry! Thank you so much for touching me today. We may never meet but you have touched me in a way that was made possible by the hand of God. May you know what a powerful instrument you are in doing His work with you simple and true words. May you know you have saved lives today that may have been destroyed.
In closing, I remember your husband when his was little and he was too young to remember me but Scotty and his sister were beautiful wonderful children whom I do not ever remember being mean or troublesome; very sweet always; to each other and those around them.
I think my parents, Paul (Pole) and Janie Cadena, may have baptized one of them (I think your husband). If they were not his God Parents I do remember we were there for the baptismal.
Again thank you for your ministry!! You may never see the extent of the power it played in my life today but it was the life jacket in the flood gates of my emotions. Please continue in knowing your writings are very truly His Will. Thank you for helping me.

Also marveling in my own mind at how you miraculously (with spiritual help – but make lemonade out of a scenario that would send most people screaming into the night never to return. I thought of the famous story of the Spartan boy and the Spartan code. He captured a live fox and intended to eat it. Although boys were encouraged to scrounge for food, they were punished if caught. The boy noticed some Spartan soldiers coming, and hid the fox beneath his shirt. When the soldiers confronted him, he allowed the fox to chew into his stomach rather than confess, and showed no sign of pain in his body or face. This was the Spartan way. Then I think of Dr. Laura Schlesinger who gives listeners her reality check about family and the importance of separating oneself from family that is detrimental to the well being of yourself or your children. Your amazing love is a third and one readers should not try ‘at home’ without a strong spiritual faith and absolute help from above. You unflinching veracity and love is absolutely amazing and always inspirational to me, Lady Paula.

Bless your heart. I can only imagine what it must have been like. How extraordinary that you found a way to be loving and strong instead of becoming nasty and bitter. You are a wonder, dear Paula.

Though the issues are very different, my mil has also been very hard to love. I love your descriptor: I prayed more. Yes. I could say that too. And right now I’m going through a tough patch with my own mom as she’s going through a tough season of transition. I am helped to remember the beauty that does exist in both of these relationships, and to celebrate that. Thank you for sharing from your heart, Paula. Praying for you as your mourn yet another loss, and for Scott too.
