Thanks, Daila. The advice given to the comedian is good advice for moms. Just act like it’s a normal thing when your kid does… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at my boys and said, “Really?!” the distance of time is helping me see the humor in these things. I did read the The Art of Racing in the Rain. I thought it was clever to make the dog the point of view character. 🙂

I think what makes your stories funny is that you don’t realize they’re funny–I once heard an actress say that was the advice she was given by a comedian about how to make a part funny: just act like it’s a normal thing. I still like an idea you mentioned about writing about your family through the eyes of your dog–have you read The Art of Racing in the Rain?

Thanks, KJ. At the time it was so discouraging to hang up with Les and clean up all that poop. All I could think was “I will never be a novelist! I’m just a poop wiper.” Today the memory makes me smile. 🙂
